Mallard´s eating perch

Mallards eat perch in the Umeå river, Sweden. They act as predator´s, they shake the prey back and forth. And all mallards want the fish, they are fighting and arguing about it. In the end they will lose their precious prey to crows. what I understand by reading, Mallards eat´s grass and small insects, not fish. A mysterious and wondrous sight, The Mallard, a predator.
